We shouldn't encourage wimpy, sensitive mindsets. People shouldn't be wimpy or sensitive in the first place, but if some people are going to be overly sensitive, then we shouldn't listen to them. I would much rather live in a nation of strong individuals who aren't easily offended, than individuals who get offended over words.

You're right, we shouldn't encourage wimpy, sensitive mindsets. You know, like people who are so fucking sensitive that they get upset if we change words. People like that are so goddamn pathetic it's almost hilarious. I've seen maggots who are worth more than people like that. Imagine getting upset over words being changed, and thinking it makes you 'strong'. That is fucking hilarious from a weak, pathetic piece of shit like you.

"Oh no, we're changing words!" says the guy pretending to be 'strong' without knowing what strong even means. It's fucking hilarious.

Be more emotional, why don't you. I'm not upset about anything. I just don't want limp-wristed pansies taking over the world.

First, they're 'limp-wristed' but then they're 'taking over the world' make up your mind. You can't even keep your story straight. Either people are 'too weak' or they're 'taking over the world'. They can't be both. If you don't see that, then you're stupid in addition to being pathetic. Which isn't surprising. The dumbest people do tend to also be the weakest and most sensitive about being called out on their bullshit.

What is limp wristed or weak about changing a word?  Remember, I acknowledged in my OP that words change all the time in language for a variety of reasons.  So what makes replacing a few words in our massive vocabulary (~170,000 in use today) with some that are less insulting so weak?  Can you support your assertion with a real argument?

I'm in favor of letting nature take its course. If the words are supposed to change, they will change, naturally. We shouldn't force word changes.

I think its telling that there is no valid or even well reasoned argument that addresses this need to continue to use offensive words.  The only push back we get is this anti-intellectual claim that changing our language is somehow weak.  And that somehow makes people/society more weak?  Explain that.  You could argue that insensitive people are less offended, but then you don't really know that.  They could just be less vocal about it.  It could also be argued that insensitive people create more problems in society because of their lack of respect for others.

We have seen many images become less acceptable over time, such as white people putting on blackface makeup, for good reason.  So is it your assertion that black people should just shut up and accept it when white people openly mock them?  At some point I'm pretty sure this will reach you as well and you'll have to explain why you don't enjoy being mocked.

And who/what is supposed to decide that words change?  Humans are the only entities that I know of that use words, so if society decided via consensus that a word needs to change, isn't that evidence that the words are "supposed" to change?

RE: Master and slave
This seems a natural corollary to the issue of gender neutral pronouns which tend to instill rage in many people with whom I agree on a great many other issues. Personally, I have no problem using whatever pronoun makes someone comfortable. It is at best a minor inconvenience to keep their often unique pronoun in mind, and usually comes up only in writing since it's unusual to use someone's pronoun in speaking with them. But for reasons I can't quite fathom, this fires some people up. And from the standpoint of concern for others, it should be a much clearer issue than the master/slave question because with the pronouns, someone has expressed a clear position on what makes them feel comfortable rather than you having to guess or assume, so by using a binary pronoun you are consciously making them uncomfortable. One might argue these people are being unreasonably sensitive, though I have no idea what standard one would apply to reach this conclusion, but the bottom line is "who cares?" If it represents at worst a minor inconvenience to you (and in most cases no inconvenience at all), why not just do it and create a little happiness in the world?

Perhaps, but not all of society, or even most of it, wants these particular words changed. Only some people want them changed.
