That Trans Thread
In light of recent discussions on the forum, and in light of the broader societal conversations going on in the country right now, I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a thread to gender identity affirmation and trans-affirming news. I’ll go first:

“Colorado now requires private health insurance plans to cover gender-affirming care for trans people like facial bone remodeling and hormone therapy.”

https://www.npr.org/2021/10/14/104614032...ealth-insu
Nay_Sayer: “Nothing is impossible if you dream big enough, or in this case, nothing is impossible if you use a barrel of KY Jelly and a miniature horse.”

Wiser words were never spoken.

RE: That Trans Thread
As a transgender female, I am hardly noticed when in one of my full skirts, tee, sunglasses and sandals, but, when wearing jeans & a teeshirt, I have had cars stop at intersections for excessive periods of time to gawk at me, cars drive by slowly, people yell slurs at me on a few occasions, and one slap to my head from a moving vehicle (which I posted about here.)

If I ever stop posting here, know that someone either killed me or I died suddenly from some medical condition.

I saw where you posted this before, and I'd really like that people acted better. Fat chance for all the people in the world that that is going to happen.  Dodgy

I don't think that such individuals are bad, just on the wrong side of history. Like phrenology and racial bigotry, discrimination against gender nonconforming individuals is destined for the historical trashbins, eventually.

I hope you're right. We seem to be regressing in that and many other regards.

Of course they're bad people. We can't ever properly progress if we keep applying apologetics to their ignorance.

Anyone who wants to abolish the rights, that they themselves take for granted, for others not like them, is not a good human being.

Equality is for everyone, not just the select.

The same thing happened with voting rights, which were given to women by certain states only to be taken away and restored later on. Transgenders, gays and other "nonconformers" have been around since the dawn of humanity; we are not going to disappear. I do not believe that Western law is going to be able to accommodate institutionalized discrimination against us. If it is one thing that Republicans value, it is money, and a lot of companies are going to refuse to do business with public bigots, even if they are bigots themselves, in private.
