The size is irrelevant... Dodgy

So you think it would be legitimate for the BBB to have been an EO?

Yup

So the next time a Republican is a duly-elected President, they should have the same ability? Perhaps the previous Congress should have passed a bill enabling the President to act unilaterally.

Or any republican, honestly.  The GOP only cares about power for the sake of having power.  Or, at least, that's their first priority and they're willing to compromise on anything else as long as it will bring them power.

All those objections to Trump? The republicans only acknowledged those after it was realized that he's unpopular and he's hurting them in elections.

Remember when 7 months wasn't enough time to nominate a supreme court justice in 2016?  Moscow Mitch certainly changed his mind about that in 2020, didn't he?

Remember how they impeached Bill Clinton for disgracing the office of the presidency but completely ignored the multiple disgraces Trump brought (finishing things off by inciting a riot on the capitol)?

Remember how budget deficits were a big problem from 1993-2000 and from 2009-2016 and since 2021?  I wonder what those time periods have in common?

Remember how much republicans hate activist judges?

Remember how abortion is always evil and sinful and wrong.... unless you got knocked up by Hershel Walker, then we just don't talk about it.

Remember how consenting homosexual sex was literally a crime and there are supreme court justices that still think it should be, but republicans totally aren't homophobic.

Remember how they complain about media bias because they're hearing so much about it from Faux News, OAN and Newsmax?

Their top priority is their own power.  Everything else is secondary.  But when they really consolidate that power (and Moore v Harper could REALLY make that happen instantly), we've seen what they do with power and it isn't pretty.  Laws that mirror theocratic states in the middle east and looking away from the concentration camps being built in our back yard and human rights violations by police being ignored and politicians being above the law and elections that are every bit as impactful as the elections in North Korea.  Yeah, that's more than a little scary.

Jayapal wanted an entire bill (the BBB) to become an EO. We're not talking some minor EO, we're talking major pieces of legislation.

So, a duly elected representative suggested that a duly elected President use powers granted to him by both the US Constitution and the US Congress to do something your country needed.

Please explain why this is a problem.

Floated multiple times with the unitary executive business.  I suspect they'll eventually get that, or more of that, and yes...probably under a nutjob president - and then some dem will come along and use it to fuck something up.

For one, it's anti democratic, just not anti Democratic. So you're okay with the anti democratic stance of Jayapal?

How can it be anti-Democratic if it’s been done by each and every democratically elected president using powers given to them by democratically elected senators and representatives?

You act like Executive Orders are something that Joe Biden and the Democratic Party invented. Every President but William Henry Harrison has used them. And even he would have used them if not for the fact that he caught pneumonia on his first day in office and died of it on the thirtieth. And they've used the phrase "Executive Order" since Lincoln was President.
