Dear Atheists: what would convince you God/Christ is Real?

But surely theists can’t expect me to adopt their beliefs on the basis of what has been presented thus far. Every “proof” I’ve heard and every piece of evidence I’ve seen for the existence of god(s) is easily countered by rational evidence and arguments to the contrary. No convincing evidence for the existence of any deity has ever emerged. But I’m more than willing to listen to theistic arguments or view theistic evidence as long as cross-examination is permitted. As conditions now stand, theology rests far more on superstition and faith than upon facts and reason.

Lol right, because you don't want it to be true. And yes, you are asking too much.

I always get a chuckle when theists presume to know what I'm thinking. You don't know me. You don't know about my educational background, prior religious beliefs or how I came to be an atheist. Your statement is puerile. Grow up! Present your credentials as a qualified clairvoyant and I'll take it seriously.

I don't need to know any of that. And being "clairvoyant" doesn't mean reading people's minds.

So, lets say you are presented with a new supernatural claim. By what method do you use in order to determine if you should believe it or not?

What method did you use to determine which gods you should believe exist, and which don't exist?

I think they could all exist. I'm not picky.

There is big difference between thinking some supernatural thing could exist, and actually accepting the claim that it does indeed exist, as being true.

So, you really didn’t answer my question.

Let me change it a bit based on your last response.

What method did you use in order to conclude a supernatural thing could exist. Possibility has to be demonstrated, not asserted.

It is obvious, you really don't care if your beliefs are true or not.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Really not sure how to answer any of that. You're not asking the right questions.

You must not work in management. They have a conveniently ignorant answer for everything.

Is your need for wish fulfillment (a better current or next life) the motivating factor in your faith that god exists?
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Simply because you don’t have an answer (any answer) doesn’t mean the questions aren’t the right ones.
