Right, if it's that obvious you should have some pretty clear examples of extreme violence and persecution in the West towards religious minorities?

tl;dr - good question; Muslims primarily, though the CCP is stepping up their game.

That's both actually a really good question and surprisingly harder to answer than I expected, though I will stick with my original answer - in terms of severe violent persecution, unquestionably the primary persecution comes from the Islamic Regime(s) across Africa and the Middle East with small pockets in the West and non-Islamic Asia.

In terms of political oppression of Christianity I would actually say the Chinese Communist Party in terms of just sheer number of individuals - the Islamic world has had a few extra hundred years of genocide leaving most of the indigenous Christian populations extinct.
