Yeah, it’s popular, it’s just not for everyone. Kind of like Stephen King in that sense. I’ve only ever made it through one of his books. Boru

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I haven't done Audible books most of this year. Amazon has a budget pair of decent JBL headphones on sale, and I had plenty of Amazon credit, so I ordered a pair, thinking I'd see if headphones and errands could become a regular habit. I've got plenty of books on Audible that I certainly don't need any. However, Chirp has bundles of nonfiction books on sale right now. The sale ends in a few days, so I've got time to ponder their offerings.

I've been reading the new comic book by R. Crumb, and at his old age he's been going off the deep end.
Case in point: ![]() Some pages don't even have drawings but are just his manifestos of how government agencies are working against him & us. How people still naively believe in doctors and medical science while they're trying to kill us and make big bucks selling us phony medications. He's afraid he'll get cancelled and face "career destruction" if he speaks his opinion, like on vaccines: ![]() But I won't cancel you. I still like you even if you quote Joe Rogan's podcast and believe in nonsense. As an artist, he's giving us himself: "This is who I am now. This is my brain after the age of 80, after my wife of many years has died, after many LSD trips, Catholic schools, and whatnot."
