Can't believe I've never picked up on that before.

In aphids and some species of mites, reproduction occurs via ‘generation telescoping’, a process in which females are not only born pregnant, but her embryos are already pregnant as well. Seems to be a great time-saver.

The Vatican classifies muskrats, beavers, and capybaras as fish, which means it is permissible to eat them during Lent.

Is that where our senate got the idea to classify pizza as a vegetable?

Wearing a crucifix around your neck or having it hang on the wall of your home is just another pagan pre-Christian tradition that Christians stole.
Quote:Christian amulets preserved Roman traditions of protection
In the Roman Empire, between 100 B.C. and A.D. 600, amulets could be found everywhere. They were hung on houses, placed beside fields or carried by people. "Location is important when it comes to amulets," explains Kret. "The object must be placed in the spot it is intended to protect, heal or bring supernatural benefits to. It is striking that this core aspect of their use hardly changed when Christianity entered the Roman Empire."
Kret also discovered that the appearance of the amulets hardly changed. "Body amulets, for example, often remained pieces of text, written on a metal plate or a scrap of papyrus, which hung around the neck of the person to be protected." What did change was the text inscribed on the amulets. "It gradually became more Christian in nature, just like the shape of the amulet," says Kret. "It takes the form of a cross, for instance, but people still wear it around their necks with the aim of being protected."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Bishops of that period threatened excommunication of people who used amulets. In an unsurprising display of hypocrisy, these same bishops didn’t seem to have a problem with the veneration of relics. Broad as it’s long, really.

Yes, that's a donkey's head on Jesus. It was a bizarrely widespread belief about both Jews and Christians.

Robert Zemeckis named his daughter Zsa Zsa Zemeckis. Why would anyone name their child after the over-the-top moniker of a B-list actress?
