Today is Google change day

Today is Google change day
Today Google's new privacy policy starts.

You CAN allegedly opt out. However, I just don't like the greedy arrogance. The policy is about targeted advertising.

So,fuck Google. I've removed Chrome and installed Safari as my browser (seems excellent) and am temporarily using Yahoo as my search engine. I'm going to try DuckDuckGo.

What's their new privacy policy?

I don't know anything about it other than they've been telling me it matters. Does it?

They will keep and use your browsing history,even after you have deleted it.

They did not and do not have my permission ,so fuck 'em.

It matters to me,it may not you.

Meh, I like target advertising. It's nice to get ads on stuff I am actually interested rather than the usual, Viagra and wierd education ads I seem to usually get.

I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see.

Evidence google already targeted their ads: I've not seen a viagra ad in... 2 years?

@padraic:

Evidence for that assertion please? As far as I am aware, Chrome's privacy policy is being kept separate, and you can easily turn off the Google Search "Web History" which only records your searches, not where you are browsing.

The whole thing has been blown out of proportion IMO.

Yup, and there is nothing that says anything about browsing history. All they are doing is combining all their services as one (which they've already done to a degree with the Google Account).

Also, if you care about adverts, install an adblocker and an anti-tracking addon. I personally think targeted ads are a great idea; why would I want to see adverts about stuff I don't like?

I find ads a bit creepy. They always make me think, wtf were you googling that for Smile
