It's not really an issue within the Orthodox Church, there isn't really an "official" line like the Catholic Church its a matter of personal choice, I personally don't have any probnlem with evolution if it is true, although I happen to think it isn't..but I'm certainly not a creationist. I think the theory requires much closer scrutiny and in time will be shown to be false as its understood at this moment.

Hey StatCrux, you sound like a decent and well educated person. I'm pretty interested on your take of the God debate.

Would it be too much to ask for if I asked you to start a thread where you propose your reasoning? By the looks of it, this thread doesn't do your viewpoint justice so I'm proposing to start a discussion from explicitly your viewpoint pretty much =)

You brought him into the subject - don't run away now.

Not quite correct, the question may arise but it doesn't change in nature, it still remains a philosophical question. What you are saying is that philosophical questions can arise due to scientific discoveries, very true but it doesn't then become a biological/scientific issue.

Yeah I guess.. but I'm more of a listener lately. I'll pitch in my 2 cents every once in a while though.

Is it wrong of me to think of the debate area as the OK Corral. If 2 people have a serious discussion, then they can CHALLENGE each other to an intellectual duel.

I know its not really that way, but it sounds more exciting!

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?

NMF, I am lousy (as you may have noticed) at debate. BUT for those who wish to have a one on one debate this area is there so as to eliminate extraneous intervention that can seriously derail a topic (as happens quite often on the open forums)

If one seriously wishes to discuss, in the form of debate, a particular topic; this area is available....please contact the Mods/ Admin for access though. Big Grin

Quite incorrect. If an issue arises within the field, then it can be judged within the constraints of the field - thereby making it an issue of that field. Take another "philosophical" issue of consciousness. This issue is very much a biological issue when neuro-biologists try to determine the areas of the brain which give rise to it.
