I just like to sin. I realize that acknowledging his existence would force me to change my behavior, so I pretend that he isn't real.

At least that's what I've been told is the reason I'm an atheist, and who would know what's going on in my head better than someone else?

I can appreciate what you're going through. As the dad of an inquisitive ten year old, I find it's a balancing act. His mother has filled his head with what I consider to be religious bullshit, I on the other hand try to teach him to seek his own answers.

"I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer. Those three little words lead to questions, questions lead to investigation, and investigation leads to discovery. Discovery leads to knowledge and knowledge leads to wisdom.

I found a piece of toast with the face of Christopher Hitchens and figured "why would God waste a miracle to show the face of an atheist?" And then I slathered butter on it, and went on with my life.
