It shouldn't matter what a person's faith is. It should matter what laws will they change, repeal, or enact that would effect your lives negatively. Personally I think Obama believes in God MORE THAN Romney does. Romney I think uses his religion for personal gain, whether it's in business or, for his political career. However I think Romney would enact many religously biased laws and even re-write the 1st amendment if it benefited him politically in anyway........

One of the things I've learned about Mormons is that they know their sect is unpopular enough that they don't talk about religion much in public. Mormons who are very religious are still very good at keeping their faith to themselves and it's entirely possible that Romney is deeply religious but he just doesn't talk about it. Unless you're referring to a different video than the one I posted, which isn't likely, Jillette wasn't calling Obama stupid, and he wasn't necessarily calling him a liar. He said very frequently that he thought both candidates in the presidential race were very very intelligent, and he merely said that he hopes Obama is lying about his 'beliefs'. However the main point he was trying to make (unless I missed something) was that it didn't fucking matter at all what a presidential candidate calls themselves, because they all have to use that magic word "Christian" in order to even have a chance of winning at all. See....I'll take the atheist who tells the idiots what they want to hear to get elected and doesn't waste his fucking time praying to some non-existent god or kneeling in some church. We have real problems in this country and none of them will be solved by praying. I'm still paying attention to the lesson the Republicans should have learned over the past few years. Anyone want to remember the primary reason Bush won the Republican primary in 2000? It came down to him and McCain, but everyone saw him as a better Christian candidate. Know what happened? He fucked up big time. Then in 2008, McCain got his second chance, but he had to get the Christian candidate for his running mate. Sarah Palin has been nothing but an embarrassment for the Republicans since and she's scaring away independent voters, the ones who decide elections. This election Michelle Bachman was an early favorite and Santorum nearly won the nomination. Again, their primary credential is that they're good Christians, even if they've fucked up otherwise. This isn't anything new for them, either; anyone remember Dan Quayle? The man wasn't known for being the most intelligent guy out there but he was a heartbeat away from the most powerful office on earth. I fear to think what he would have done had he actually been president. And on the other hand, Clinton talked about his religion a lot and went to church a lot and, yeah, he was deeply religious. Clinton was a great president and I honestly wish he could run again; I wouldn't hesitate to vote for him, religious or not. The lesson is: don't pick a candidate based on their religious beliefs. A Christian who can do his fucking job and fix the problems our country is facing is a whole lot better than a clueless atheist. |
