Starling Murmurations

Starling Murmurations
I've been watching some videos of starling murmurations because I just love it. It's magnificent how the birds coordinate their movements in the air so timely and precisely. Sometimes they even huddle together so closely as if they are going to crash into each other, but yet they keep on flying so gracefully while changing directions over and over again, while twisting and turning in so many ways. And they do all this stuff even without requiring any practice or rehearsals. I think it's one of the most spectacular things to see in nature.

Here's a video of what it looks like:

Another video was posted in a different thread by orogenicman, but it's an old thread, so I started a new one.

More videos below and you can also post some of them in this thread, if you want to:

I see an emergent system as a result of chaos theory.

But that's just me.

Love the music as well.

Pachelbel's Canon in D if I'm not mistaken.

Arrogant? Uppish? Impertinent? Wink

BTW, did you guys know that the starling was introduced to the States around 1890, so that all the birds ever mentioned in the works of Shakespeare could be found in the States? True story. (And I know it from QI and Stephen Fry, where I draw most of my knowledge fromWink)
