Quote:But, as always, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Oddly though, that standard does not apply to ancient texts scribbled out by ignorant goat fuckers. Those are treated as the word of fucking god himself by far too many morons.

This was met with more than a little bit of skepticism when announced.

The fact that even normally gullible and easily excitable news outlets haven't run with this suggest this story came from fairly sketchy sources.

The abstract of the report....

Quote: The existence of numerous nitrogen depleted highly carbonaceous fossilized biological structures fused into the rock matrix is inconsistent with recent terrestrial contamination. Oxygen isotope results compare well with those of CI and CI-like chondrites but are inconsistent with the fulgurite hypothesis.

Some big words there for a news industry which really only wants to know who Kim Kardashian is blowing.

Fascinating news if it does get confirmed, in fact it'll be the most important discovery of all time. The fossil I mean, not the Kim Cardassian thing. That's not news by any stretch of the definition.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
