Frankly I like the edginess of the not-so-tightly enforced politeness. I wouldn't like phony. Maybe I should just speak up more for my favorites.
I think this is a good idea.
Part of me feels bad for the new people that are polite, and part of me thinks that maybe they should have known better than to jump in unprepared for the fact that no one's going to coddle them and their beliefs. That's why I think the best position is to just let people know not to take it personally and ignore what really bothers them.

Meh. I get so confused by people here sometimes. I see people who have had complete bitch baby geekouts advocate politeness. I see people who complained about how we treat newbs do a 180 and advocate a man-up stance. I've seen self-appointed tough chicks/guys slink off once everyone stops fawning over them. I've seen people leave once everyone stops arguing with them. Everyone has a different preference and very few are consistent, so who really gives a fuck? If people leave, that is their problem. Blaming it on anyone else is retarded. Even a total fucking asshole shouldn't have that much control over you. Why do we all even talk about this shit so often?

I hate to think of you being confused, Shel. I try to stay a prick...at least to the god-botherers.
