It's high time we had a competition!

RE: It's high time we had a competition!
Spoilsport!
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Pretty much. I was actually just trying to come up with a competition for which I would have a good chance of winning.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I think the handwritten thread could have been a good idea for a competition, too.

But, it just won't be that fun, I suppose.

How about a conundrum competition whereby members post 'their own' mind bending problems to be answered by other members in a special thread.

Who's ever conundrum has not successfully been answered after seven days is the winner. Answers will not be available on the net as they will be the brainchild of the member who posted them and to stop members simply saying, "No, you haven't got it yet" all answers should be submitted to the staff prior to the conundrum being posted.

In the event that after seven days there is more than one successfully answered conundrum then those members are invited to submit new conundrums to another thread. This could continue until there is only one unanswered conundrum left and thus, a winner.

Global game of hide and seek. Whoever find the most members wins!

Lets face it. We'll never decide on a competition because all of us are good at different things. I'm reasonably sure I can't compete with Tiberius in a programming competition, but I really don't think he would stand a chance against me for a song-writing competition.

Point being - to get a majority vote on a competition may prove to be far more difficult than the actual competition.

Well at least we can see this is a community of real individuals. Always nice to see that.

So everyone is good at something different. Let's do our own little version of America/Britain/etc's Got Talent. Everyone posts something depending on what they're good at, but it has to have something to do with AF or atheism in general.

Atheist Forum's Got Talent
Pointing around: "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you're cool, fuck you, I'm out!"
Half Baked

"Let the atheists come to me, and stop keeping them away, because the kingdom of heathens belongs to people like these." -Saint Bacon

I agree with Ivy Smile Incidentally, Cthulhu's facepalming idea will be included in that because we all know there's gonna be some jacked up shit submitted.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
