Exactly, necroposting takes the piss, as does joining a thread a week after it has been made only to make a point that has been bled dry already.

No one is trying to "marginalize" anyone.

This idea was inspired as I was responding to "Pandas United", the latest Christian to come along and regurgitate the "moral argument". I pointed him to my own older post on this very topic rather than rehash the same counter-arguments all over again. I was not discouraging his participation but offering him an easy way to realize (1) we've heard this already and (2) a way for him to try to offer some new defense of this old argument if he can.

How this is taken as "marginalization" is something I can't comprehend, except through the persecution complex of Christianity, a psychological phenomena that can be triggered by anything short of complete and silent submission by the unbeliever.

People have been debating this stuff for centuries. If you limit debate to things you haven't heard before, you might as well close up shop.

Again, this is not about limiting debate. This is about creating an easily accessed group of threads where specific, repeated and recycled canards are discussed and debunked. So any atheist who doesn't feel like reposting the same take-down of the same tired-old argument can simply post a link.

And yes, Summerqueen is right that the necroposting rule would need to be lifted for this subforum, since Christians should feel welcome to post their attempts to argue why these tired-old arguments are not really debunked.

There would also need to be super strict enforcement that any posts irrelevant to the specific argument the thread is discussing will be deleted. If you want to write, "say, that reminds me of...", start a new thread.

But that's what you suggested...the creation of a sub forum that apparently lists all the contemptible and repetitive Christian arguments so they can be cornered to post their contemptuous shit over there rather than among the self-evidently laudable Atheist threads.

It was an open letter telling Christians not to post on certain topics or they'll get STFU replies.

It was an open letter to Christians, and Christians in general aren't in charge of such things here. Also, if that was the intent, you presumably would have posted it in Suggestions rather than Christianity.

Here's an idea - when you see a thread on a topic you're tired of, don't read that thread.

When Adrian made a subforum for botany at my request it wasn't so I could "not" post on it. It was to categorize them all in one place, so if the topic had already been discussed it could be easily referenced.

Quit acting like a martyr - you suck at it.

Yes, yes. That all sounds amazing. I'm glad that there is no group of threads where recycled shit from Atheists can be poured into, it's not like Atheists are ever repetitive are they? They're creative and innovative and can simply do no wrong.

I don't see it as limiting debate, but rather limiting exchanges like this:

Theist: Where do you get your morals from if not from God?
Atheist: *explains how different societies have had moral rules to follow long before Christianity*
T: Yeah, but they were just following God's law without knowing it. Where do you atheists claim to get your morals?
A: *explains the concept of treating people how they'd want to be treated*
T: But that's just following God's law. If you didn't follow God's law and atheism were real, you'd be going out killing, raping, and stealing because atheism doesn't have any rules against it.
A: *explains again societal rules and atheism doesn't have any "rules"*
T: You've just proved my point. All morals come from God.
A: *massive facepalmheaddesk*
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
