Why I feel Stuck in Christianity

Don't quit believing because you fear you have blasphemed the Holy Spirit. Quit believing because there isn't a shred of evidence that the bible is true nor that the Holy Spirit exists anywhere outside of the minds of the deluded faithful.

I wish I can help you out, but really only you can make yourself stop believing.

Think about it this way, though. Do you want to spend the rest of your life worshipping an asshole? No? Ok, ignore him, eventually you'll lose the faith as well.

Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit is a hardness of the heart that will not let a person attribute the works of God the Holy Spirit, to God the Holy Spirit.

Wrong again, Drippy.

"Blaspheme" seems to be the word and it has a clear meaning.

Quote:New International Version
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin."

New Living Translation
but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences."

English Standard Version
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—

New American Standard Bible
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin "--

King James Bible
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Holman Christian Standard Bible
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" --

International Standard Version
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven, but is guilty of eternal sin."

NET Bible
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternal sin"

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
“But there is never forgiveness to whoever will blaspheme against The Spirit of Holiness, but he is condemned to eternal judgment;”

GOD'S WORD® Translation
But whoever curses the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. He is guilty of an everlasting sin."

King James 2000 Bible
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal judgment:

American King James Version
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

American Standard Version
but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin:

Douay-Rheims Bible
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin.

Darby Bible Translation
but whosoever shall speak injuriously against the Holy Spirit, to eternity has no forgiveness; but lies under the guilt of an everlasting sin;

English Revised Version
but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin:

Webster's Bible Translation
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never hath forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Weymouth New Testament
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, he remains for ever unabsolved: he is guilty of a sin of the Ages."

World English Bible
but whoever may blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"

Young's Literal Translation
but whoever may speak evil in regard to the Holy Spirit hath not forgiveness -- to the age, but is in danger of age-during judgment;'

I realize you make this shit up as you go along but words do have meanings.

RE: Why I feel Stuck in Christianity
I see that much wisdom has come your way from our resident atheist, wisdom that will help you to blaspheme the Holy Spirit and realize your worse fears. When you were a Christian why did you worry about hell, were you not taught that once you're in the hands of the Father no one can take you away, not even the bad thought you had. Now I'm not saying you can't make the choice to give up your salvation, as you've read here on this forum many have. God's not going to send you to hell for a little slip up in your mind, that would make Him cruel and He's a loving God who wishes no one enter eternal damnation. But, you follow the wisdom of those who care nothing for your eternal soul, you will have chosen your finial destination and it want be heaven. What ever you decide heaven or hell God will honor your choice.

Someone said to smoke dope to help you forget, I tried, it doesn't work, others say convince yourself that God's not real, remember the Holy Spirit convinced you God was real, I know who I would believe. In the end it's your choice, choose carefully because it will become permanent at the moment of your physical death.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Way to help define choices there, GC. Quit scaring our pledge! Fearmongering is a shitty hand to play.

Weed is always a viable alternative. Don't assume your experience with it is anything more than your experience.

RE: Why I feel Stuck in Christianity
GC, you seem to think that we only care about ourselves. Why did I worry about hell when I was a Christian? Because I had a muslim friend who was a better person than most Christians and my "holy book" told me that she would be tortured for all eternity.

Because I loved my grandparents to bits before they died and my holy book told me that they are being tortured right now.

Because I think that torturing anyone (or allowing the torture of anyone) is one of the worst crimes that you can commit - I don't care what they did to "deserve it".

And if you think it is ok - there is something seriously wrong with you or you only care about yourself.

Edit: You will also notice that most of us told him to read the bible. Surely you can't disagree with that?

MonkeyMan - I find that watching comics are good (if a bit biased). Darkmatter2525 is one of my favourites in helping put stuff into context.

Also, as others mentioned - read the bible. You will soon find out that it is pretty difficult to tell who the "good guys" are supposed to be.
Any spelling mistakes are due to my godlessness!

You are absolutely right - I have only started my new walk through Genesis and this is without using the Skeptics Bible. When I am finished I will go over it again and see if it finds any holes I have missed.

There are several paradoxes heres some majors I have learned thus far?

Well
1) Why did God turn Cain against Abel - God chose one side!
2) Abraham was an ass hole, Telling the Pharaoh is wife was his sister then God punishing the Pharaoh. Not even that but the Pharaoh let Abraham keep all the Good stuff the Pharaoh gave him that's deception and it shows that the Good guy gets punished.
3) Then we have another King Abiem - Again Abraham pretends Sarah is is Sister - The King takes her then God punishes the King and even gets the king to ask Abraham for forgiveness.
4) God sent Haggar and Ishmael away and then God is found saying Abraham had only One Son!. That sounds really fair and Just?!
5) God seams to do allot of 'Remembering' and it seams he needs allot of 'Reasoning' too because is is not decisive.

Heres the Cracker
6) God told Abraham to Kill Issaic - Abraham didn't even resist it. Then when he is about to kill him 'An Angel of the Lord - Shouts Stop!' Notice that God told Abraham to Kill but an Angel told him to stop. GOD NEVER TOLD ABRAHAM TO STOP.

I'm only at Genesis 25 and I already see that Abraham was a ball bag. I haven't found that it doesn't disprove God only that God shows favorites and to hell with everyone else - LITERALLY.

Your arrogance never ceases to amaze me, GC. Rather than acknowledge that others have beliefs that differ from yours, you jump to the narcissistic position that you are the only one that truly cares about this person, and everyone else is simply unconcerned with his well-being.

And you wonder why non-believers have a negative attitude towards Christians.
