It can happen naturally in fish and reptiles but I think the offspring will be a perfect clone of it's mother.

From what I learned in biology an animal population has to number 50 genetically unrelated individuals to be viable. Else what you end up with is this.
And then they will eventually die out. Certainly Noah's Ark and Adam and Eve wouldn't have worked. |
