Can you guys imagine what that would do to this place?!
I consider the rules around here very lax, when you take into account the nature of this forum. I like them that way.
I think they're inviting to atheists and theists alike... although they do allow atheists to mock theists... and theists, don't usually mock, nor like being mocked by others. So, in practice, it ends up being an atheist freebie! Yep. Why make rules that pretend otherwise?
Ultimately, this is an atheist forum... Gotta have some control over the theists!... while leaving them with a sense of fairness.
The "no flaming" and "no trolling" rules are practically omnipresent in online forums. I thought it was the same around here... maybe it was and those rules had a recent buff... but if there weren't such rules, then they are more than welcome.
Yes minimalist tends to answer with the trademarked "go blow jesus out your ass". We understand where that reply comes from, and that is why min doesn't get banned for that and other similar remarks. And, when the other guy mentions his reply, min then typically does a more verbose reply where he explains things... or maybe I have some biased memory of it...
If min continues to just insult the other guy, then he is liable for a warning, reprimand and, after continued bad behavior, ban.
That's how I interpret the rules.

This forum has been growing at a very good pace and in all accounts is being a success. You notion of civility is clearly not the same as mine. I guess you prefered that we all went christian and spend all our posts saying "bless you brother". Such a shame you bones can be broken by words like fuck/shit/cock/ass/cunt. Like I said before, now I use professor Feynman:

That is my opinion. As to the rules, your reading comprehension clearly is lacking. You have to repeatedly post insults. Minimalist never does that, and if you ask him the reason of the insult, he will gladly give you facts, usually in the historic context that demolish your vaunted religion. I understand, since you can't beat them with facts, try to supress them because the poor baby had his feelings hurt by harsh words. Why don't you stimulate the tostesterone production of your body for your balls to finally drop?
Quote:Are you insane? DO words mean something else where you live? If Minimalist is making posts for purposes other than discussion, then yes, they should be banned if their is a " general rule against theist or atheist dumbfucks that use this forum for any other reasons than to have a discussion." Amazing that you wrote those two sentences back-to-back.
Are you a fucking idiot? You accuse me of not knowing what words mean, only to twist what I said to your agenda? What I find amazing is your dishonesty, you are really capable of anything. I'm done with you, as far as I care, if you leave the forum, nothing lost, nothing gained.
You want to be heard? Make a decent criticism of the rule, including suggestions on how to improve them, if insults bother you, then this forum is not for you, the reason you remain is unknown to me, are you a masochist?

The rules apply equally to atheists and theists. Read the forum description once in a while. This forum was created to promote discussion between atheists and theists. It's never been a place for atheists to just gather and avoid believers. If you want a forum like that, try practically all of the other atheist forums on the Internet.

1. courtesy; politeness.

Ah, so it's OK to insult without discussing if you possibly could discuss if asked to do so after the insult.
Like I said - clear as mud.

Correct.
Quote:only to twist what I said to your agenda?
Incorrect. You contradicted yourself from one sentence to the next.

I have no problems with the rules. It's the enforcement that's the problem. If they're not going to be enforced consistently, why bother pretending they're there?

I'm pretty sure theists get away with insults or not contributing to the discussion too. Hell, Apo just did a few posts up (not contributing to discussion). Should people posting one-liners or pictures for the sake of humor be warned or banned or whatever?

John V:
I should point out that prior to these new rule updates, Minimalist was not breaking the rules, as all insults had to have some personal attribute. This has now changed. If someone feels that any member (Minimalist included) is flaming (that is, using insults rather than contributing to discussion), then it will be dealt with in the appropriate manner.

We can still insult imaginary gods and superstitious ideas, right?
