It has the potential to work out, if the person(s) in power are particularly benevolent... or particularly effective. Hitler was neither, and thus I would say he serves as only an example of an incompetent buffoon in power.

'Fascism' as a term not having existed until Mussolini, it would probably be difficult to find self-identified fascist regimes being either one of these things... especially with the current standing of nations, and nonsense like 'the Geneva Convention' hanging around.

I wouldn't even consider Hilter (as the example put forward) to be a bad person. Mostly, I'd say he was a misguided person, with a nonperfect grasp of PR.

There aren't really a great deal of examples of fascist political factions ever not being absolutely despicable human beings.
Well, I do reject the term fascist, however I do not deny that I'm a staunch nationalist. All I have ever done was to love my nation, and to work for her well being. However, people who have tried to destroy my nation, my country, and have attacked our policemen, our soldiers, and brave nationalists have all done this in the name of anti-fascism, they claimed to be progressive, they claimed to be left, and they claimed to be better than us despicable nationalists.
Who is despicable? The murderous leftist groups that have killed hundreds of people, policemen, soldiers and civil servants in the name of the "anti-fascist revolution", or us, who have valiantly offered our flesh and blood in the defense of our nation's identity and prosperity?

Love is love.

And love isn't necessarily marriage, is it? I'm against gay marriage, but then: I am also against most marriages. I think I'm rather a lovely person though... and certainly not a prick, of all things! Tiny Tiger

All of them... and none of them.

Judge in Hawaii invites xtians to go fuck themselves....figuratively.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/11/14...rriage-law

Quote:Circuit Court Judge Karl Sakamoto ruled today against same-sex marriage opponents and refused to issue a temporary restraining order to prevent the state from granting marriage licenses to gay couples starting on Dec. 2.

After hearing arguments for about an hour, Sakamoto said that while the plaintiffs had standing to file their request for a TRO, the state Legislature has the power to define marriage in the state of Hawaii. He said regulating marriage was "long regarded as the province of the state.

As good a place to stick this as any.

Only... it doesn't. People with power will mostly be themselves, with small changes. Power may lower their prior-raised restraints of fear and consequences... but they'll only be themselves in doing so.

Me with absolute power, for instance? It wouldn't fit my personality at all to intentionally harm people... and it would take some major personality upheaval to be 'corrupted' in a manner that would have me deliberately inflicting pain upon the general masses.

I'd probably spend most of my time not even on this planet: too many other planets to paint and terraform and breath life into Tiger

The left has done its propaganda campaign well, and has successfuly labeled every form of thought that is not on the left as "fascist" meaning "something very very evil" in the leftist language. It has come to a point that I've heard around here that libertarians who are the exact opposite of fascism have been branded as such.
Really, no one really bothers to read these days. Most people who call themselves leftists never bother to read the communist manifesto, no one who calls themselves nationalist bothers to read specific texts relating to their ideology.
So that breeds people that speak without knowing what they're talking about. Hitler wasn't a bad man, but he was quite the impatient person. Patience is a virtue. He lacked patience, and so brought about disaster upon his people, whereas his ideas of exalting his people, both in spirit and in wealth was quite admirable, and in his time, the German people had a grand national awakening, they were ready to work for a common goal, something which is not seen in today's liberal democracies, where hypocrisy runs rampart and solidarity and unity are lacking.

So, a person such as I have a greater man to look up to, who has led the nationalist revolution in my country, and succeeded, and it is his example I follow, while following the same ideology he followed. Turkish nationalism.
Emulate his deeds and policies, defend the same ideals that he professed to.

Smashing. If it ever does work out in such a way that doesn't bring a lot of misery to everyone around them, I'll be the first to admit that I'm in error.

That's what I can't really make these people understand. I'm not against people loving eachother. However marriage isn't something that is built on love, no it really is not, and never was. You don't need marriage to be in love, neither do you need love to get married.

Think about some asshole who really deserves it! And suddenly, you have the power.

I could not be trusted with such power.
