Couple of questions.

There appears to be no historical evidence for Jesus.

Is there as much evidence for that Jesus never existed as it is for that the holocaust never took place? Can you compare these these events anyway?

If I think that Jesus never existed. Is that on the same basis that a holocaust denier think that the holocaust never took place? Why or why not?

Is the historical evidence for the holocaust better than for the existense of Jesus?

The reason why I ask because some people accuse people that think that Jesus never existed to be holocaust deniers among other things.

I doubt that Jesus existed, but I think that the holocaust took place. Have I reasons to believe that?

Didn't alot of Nazi's run and try and hide in sweden after the war was over?

Well there are probably still people alive today who lived through the holocaust, and then there's all the photo and video evidence....

More than people who lived through it or photo and video evidence (which obviously wasn't available back in Jesus' day) we have archaeological-type evidence for the Holocaust. To my knowledge, we have none such to corroborate Jesus.

I think that holocaust denial tends to take the form of "six million Jews did not die, it was 1 or 2 million at most." It's not a denial that the Nazis murdered millions of prisoners (both domestic and military) as much as it is an attempt to deny that Jews were targeted specifically, or to claim that they inflated the numbers to gain sympathy and political power.

The Nazi government did not get time to destroy many of their files and documents as Soviet and allied forces swept into Germany, and there was a massive trove of paper documentation that was preserved. It's been a while since I read any of the relevant books, but I think that Shirer's Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and Martin Gilbert's The Second World War show the paper trail that lays out the plans to wipe out the Jewish population of Eurasia and later the world. Gilbert's book describes dozens of individual events where Jews were massacred in large groups by the army or special detachments of the SS as part of the plan to wipe them all out.

^ That just reminded me - I was seeing an older guy for a while whose grandfather liberated a camp. I can't remember which. He still had one of the Nazi arm bands.

Who cares? This is just an ad hominem attack. Whether you're defending the idea Jesus never existed or the holocaust never happened, it's still the responsibility of the other party to provide evidence for their positions (that Jesus did exist or that the holocaust did happen) no matter how crazy your position might seem.

The evidence for the Holocaust is voluminous, TEGH. "Jesus?" Not so much.
