Why is evolution hiding?

A lizard becomes a wingless bird began that evolves a wing why? Did the wing stub make the bird more adaptable to the environment. How did natural selection know in advance that the bird would need wings. the stubs would be useless for maybe over a million years.
Why would a bird evolve wing stubs that are useless?

Why would the bird continue for millions of generations to improve a wing stub that is at their detriment? A bird with a useless wing is at a severe disadvantage. Natural selection shouldn't do that. Why would a bird evolve to fly?

How would a bird pass this long-term plan to the millions of generations in order to keep the lighter bone plan progressing (hallow bones) to fly when hallow bones is a major disadvantage for anything that can't fly?

You are grossly ignorant and making stupid arguments.

Seriously, dude, shut the fuck up and read a book by a scientist.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

In short, yes.

Why would that necessarily be a disadvantage?

Elizabeth R. Dumont Wrote:Although largely unstudied in birds, the material properties of bone tissue can also contribute to bone strength and stiffness. In this study, I calculated the density of the cranium, humerus and femur in passerine birds, rodents and bats by measuring bone mass and volume using helium displacement. I found that, on average, these bones are densest in birds, followed closely by bats. As bone density increases, so do bone stiffness and strength. Both of these optimization criteria are used in the design of strong and stiff, but lightweight, manmade airframes. By analogy, increased bone density in birds and bats may reflect adaptations for maximizing bone strength and stiffness while minimizing bone mass and volume. These data suggest that both bone shape and the material properties of bone tissue have played important roles in the evolution of flight. They also reconcile the conundrum of how bird skeletons can appear to be thin and delicate, yet contribute just as much to total body mass as do the skeletons of terrestrial mammals.

Um, excuse me? "Correct places?" No, they're just in places, there's nothing saying that they were correct.

I also like that your solution to the problem of how unlikely this all is, is to tell us that something even more unlikely exists that can do magic, which for all we can see is impossible. Just... this is starting to get silly.

The keratin in its arm bones evolved a spiral shape, causing it to fan out as feathers with time. We already know this; it's interesting that you didn't bother to google it before asking this question.

Gliding is a really good skill to have, when you're little and your feathers evolved concurrently with lengthened arm bones ideal for climbing trees to get at your prey.

Quote: How did natural selection know in advance that the bird would need wings.

It didn't. Keratin mutation. Dodgy

Why would a bird evolve wing stubs that are useless?

I don't fucking know, why would you evolve a little toe? Mutations are random, if they confer a benefit or don't harm the animal, they persist. Why aren't you listening?

Quote:Why would the bird continue for millions of generations to improve a wing stub that is at their detriment? A bird with a useless wing is at a severe disadvantage. Natural selection shouldn't do that. Why would a bird evolve to fly?

You start with gliding, which is still a useful trait to have, given the small size of the animals we're talking about.

Hollow bones are lighter bones, lighter bones mean lighter mass, lighter mass means faster movement, faster movement means you can get away from predators easier, and you have better vertical movement, which your predators might not.

"Major disadvantage?" Seems like there are some pretty nice advantages there too.

Do you know how frustrating it is to answer the same questions, phrased slightly differently, over and over again? Dodgy

What we could do is get him a device, connected to a network of all human knowledge, easily searchable for answers to questions anyone might have.

Now, where to find such a device...

K I cant access the video with the browser but clicked on the link and yes there are multiple uses for seemingly useless positive yet unfinnished genetic mutations that I had over looked.
Actually I don't know what God did or did not do and personally a lot of the Bible seems ridiculous to me. I also stand corrected on saying human beings didn't evolve from Apes. Human beings are apes.

Oh yes I stand corrected, I need to get off my Lazy ass and read a Goddamn book.

Thank you for the keratin mutation.

The strawberry is a hybrid first grown in the 1750s, so it was designed by artificial selection to delight tastebuds.
THank you I stand corrected!

The earth's distance from the sun varies by 3.5 million miles every year

What else do I stand corrected on? Wink

What else do you stand corrected on? Well, God, for one, but that's a discussion for a different thread. Wink
