Everyone has gut reactions to certain things, either from bad experiences, social upbrining, or other factors. Recognizing the fact that it is just a gut reaction, and trying to improve anyway is what I think Bad Wolf is trying to do here.Yep, that's pretty much what I meant in saying that it can be a long way from the head to the heart. The head understands that it's incorrect to stereotype a group based on experience with one or a few, yet the heart goes ahead and stereotypes. Or change heart to gut, as you guys chose that for analogy. Weird...we are largely in agreement, yet you guys make a knee-jerk reaction of everything I say.

Well you showed up out of nowhere and make a jab without even attempting to read the thread, then responded with the equivalent of "Lol didn't read", then you read...3 posts in and claimed you knew the answer again. Not exactly an effective way to approach a conversation, and it's pretty irritating.

No no no, the fact that I criticise feminism does not necessarily mean that I am bias against it. There are legitimate problems within the feminist movement therefore there are legitimate criticisms to make.

It's the long OP in which you explain why you're biased against feminism which necessarily means that you're biased against it. Anyway, I've scanned through the other pages. There's crap about spiders, a bad joke which offended some people, you haven't read her blog, and this: Quote:The thread was supposed to explain why I often talk about and criticize feminism, it didn't necessarily imply that my criticisms were right. It was just meant as an explanation as to why I'm against feminism when sometimes I shouldn't be.Which is further reason for me to honestly believe that you are capable of recognising and admitting that you have a bad association with feminism, yet are not capable of overcoming this through simple reason and evidence. You come right out and admit it, but go into denial if I note it. This isn't an isolated incident with just one feminist; The OP was just that, under the title "Why I am so passionate about speaking out against feminism." Yes, the OP was one isolated incident. But it's part of a pattern. So, sure, OP might be objectionable to feminism because of that one incident. Me, I object to feminism because the story OP told isn't surprising at all. I hear about stories like that all the fucking time. How often do things like this have to happen before you people acknowledge it? Quote:Quote:there's something wrong with certain feminist circles and until the moderates address the elephant in the room, the rest of the world is going to continue see them all as uptight bitches.I'm part of the rest of the world, and I recognize that there are those who take it too far, and those who have valid points, so I have to disagree. Yet your first response in this thread wasn't to acknowledge that there are crazy, extremist assholes within feminism and that many of them are actually leaders within society, college professors, authors and generally well respected, which puts them in positions to do a lot of damage. No, your first response was to condemn the person who was telling his story. Pay attention to the first part of Jaclynn Glenn's video here and tell me if you can understand what she means: instead of acknowledging he was wronged, you immediately jumped on the defensive. Do you understand the impression that gives everyone else here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbRwe9srFfA

You'll notice how I never said that I thought my criticisms were wrong. But fine, you continue to believe, despite me telling you otherwise, that I am bias. How does it feel, knowing someones position better than they do? You've literally taken one sentence that gives a slight implication that I was bias and completely ignored all the other examples where i'm not.

How often do things like this have to happen before you people acknowledge it?Sorry, but when I hear of crazy behavior from a depressed, suicidal feminist who's receiving regular psychological care, it's not the feminism that sticks out to me. I'm gonna have to go ahead and attribute the crazy behavior to the known mental illness, rather than the feminism.
