I think the idea is that Christians neglect children too and even neglect them to participate in church. But I think we should reject that message. This particular neglect was done by a Christian but not really related to Christianity.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

I'm trying to discern if this is a Christian bashing thread or a stupid adult thread.
Could be both...

I'm wondering if there's even a difference.
In fact, the one practically demands the other.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

It is both. And further evidence of the powerlessness of jesus.
Or disinterest.

The story is a testament to the underwhelming power of religion. It has nothing to do with "us vs. them". The point of the post is to highlight the unarguable and blatant lack of supernatural intervention. How can people actually think that there is a moral god while their god is watching an innocent child die while his followers are worshipping him in church? I guess they will each individually and as a church try to rationalize that issue. i just don't know how anyone in the congregation can feel like their god will intervene on their behalf if he didn't protect that child.
I guess these stories are a little more shocking to me as a new atheist. More informed atheists are probably familiar with hearing these stories about believers suffering from the consequences of reality while not receiving miraculous intervention.
