A question
November 12, 2014 at 5:53 pm
(This post was last modified: November 12, 2014 at 6:03 pm by dyresand.)
How did Christianity spread in bible terms because those people in the bible were in middle east and only such a small group of people well a few select people know of Jesus and his miracles at the time. So it doesn't really explain how it got so big here. Now if only a certain number of people knew Jesus and told people about it they surely would not just believe because they would ask why should we believe if we have x y or z deity. So how did it spread if in reality only a few amount of people knew the son of god...

Why don't you pick something easy...like, 'what do women want?' instead.
Books have been written on the subject, In fact, here's one:
http://books.google.com/books/about/The_...eOLTrPDI0C
Quote:the author examines the causes for Christianity's success to the West and its relative failings in major societies to the east of Jerusalem, including India, Persia, and China.
Actually, its fairly easy to see why it failed in India, Persia and China. It did not have a government threatening to kill people if they did not convert.

i know the real world spread i'm talking more of it biblical wise. If it did spread like it said it did in the bible we really shouldn't be seeing it here.

that's the biggest thing against its own religion if it cant get the way of how it spreads from such a small group of people.

Emperor Constantine the Great certainly helped a lot...

The notion that individual missionaries went out spreading the word to people one-by-one is nice theater but not very practical.

Theodosius was the real culprit unleashing that evil on the Western world. He was the first emperor to threaten anyone adoring heathen deities with capital punishment.

Yes, but he was a schlepper compared to Theodosius on that score.
