Jesus, GC!... "Disobedience caused the creation of hell". I feel nauseous just reading that.
The only way this could get closer to an abusive parent relationship is if we put a sticker on it saying "caution: abusive parent". And you seem to have internalized this idea of passive aggressive abuse so much. Why don't you see what a sick gaslighting character this God of yours is. I can just hope that people who believe this is normal, do not apply this notion of "moral" parenting to their own children. I'm sure your God tells you how this threat of eternal torture pains Him more than you, eh, but He didn't have a choice, because you were disobedient and sinful? Barf.

Actually disobedience caused the creation of hell. For someone who doesn't believe there's a hell you sure are fascinated by, it seems to be at the top of your list of things to mention.

Disobedience caused it? What, disobedience is a manifesting entity with it's own will, that can make things God doesn't want it to?
Or is that a way of saying God had "no choice" but to create a place of eternal torment? Either way, God sure has a lot of roadblocks to his omni powers.

It's not evidence for that at all, unless you can demonstrate that torture and "moral values" are necessarily mutually exclusive. They aren't. Some systems of moral values (e.g. act utilitarianism, a secular system) allow torture.

And why do people love the i hate these fucking disobeying people god. And not the i don't give a fuck what you do and i love you all god.
True loving not hell threatening god is way better. There is no justified means to send someone to hell even if they believe in other gods or apart
of another religion. Whats next people are going to beat their child with the bible until he or she believes in god?

What's there to discuss? You always resort to moral relativism when it suits your needs or helps you to excuse the atrocities of your book. No, there's nothing to excuse when it comes to torture and I don't respect people who try to defend it. I've got nothing in common with people like that and I'm glad about it.

Alpha male..Are you arguing that correlation should not be taken as the cause?(Hopefully, I worded that correctly)
After discussing religion with religious Europeans on several forums, I have come to the conclusion that they worship a different god then the majority of Christians in the US.
There does seem to be a lot of American Christians who believe in an angry, less charitable Jesus who also hate evolution and are pro war. It could be that the same thing that causes so many American Christians to be pro torture is also what influences them to follow the more negative version of their own religion.

That would be because they're either catholic or mainstream protestant The religious sects are pretty much on the fringe. For a long time I was rather indifferent towards religion. That only changed with the internet and when I saw what America was able to produce in terms of christianity. That really disgusted me and it disgusts me even more when topics like this come up.

As no one here has proven an objectively true and correct morality, noting the subjective nature of morality is a valid point. I'm not resorting to it.

Personally I don't respect people who make an emotional knee-jerk reaction in place of reasoned consideration.
And you do have at least one thing in common with the 40% of people without religious affiliation who support torture.
