Oh no. Your comment made me see how meaningless my life is. Please tell me my life is meaningful, because I value your opinion of me above my own.
(That was sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell)
Yes they are pretty good at sarcasm on this forum, I suppose its the only language they know.

Being a monk in a Buddhist monastery is about as dry as it gets.
I suppose some people are happy no matter what they do, where as others need to be running around trying to find happiness.

Buddhism is one of the violent racist religions on earth. They kidnap orphans and train them too be buddhists, if they disagree they break their fingers and toes. Catholic alter boys are thankful that they only have too be sexually molested, compared the child abuse that exists amongst Buddhists.

I believe in a mechanistic version of karma -- summed up in three words: assholes make enemies.
I like meditating, in different forms, mainly music, sometimes writing, always with the goal of losing myself, getting out of my own way. It works for me, and it's not so much woo as it is unwinding.
And yes, Buddhists can be equally as violent and xenophobic as any other faith.

Not for me. Meditation for me is about getting out of my own way. Rather than thinking, it's about clearing the mind. I alluded earlier to writing or playing music as forms of meditation. The reason why I feel that to be true is that when I'm in the fervor of a creative jag, I am not egotistical, I am not imposing myself on the creative process; I am getting out of my own way.
I've been a musician for 35 years. My goal, when picking up a guitar and hoping to entertain folks, is not to play a song. My goal is to let the song play me. I clear my head and abandon notions and strive to be a functioning part of an instrument made of wire and wood and vacuum tubes and speaker paper and bone and sinew and soul. Done right, being a musician is being the music.
And that is a great form of meditation.

If this is really happening, then whoever they are, their not true Buddhist, don't believe everything you read.

No True Buddhist?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

If this is really happening, then whoever they are, their not true Buddhist, don't believe everything you read. you can say the the same thing about every religion pschoslice, no true Christian would own slaves or condone genocide, no true Muslim would put on a suicide vest and got too a preschool, or no true Catholic would force a kid to give him a bj
It doesn't mean, they dont do it all the time, and that they're religion was the reason they did it.
In fact I've always found it quite racist that Westerners picture Buddhists and peace loving, meditating monks, and that the liberals went from supporting Communist China (they were our ally) too supporting the so-called "free Tibet" movement. Advocating racism and religious oppression, in one of the most rural, and already oppressed corners of the world
