RE: Atheism VS Christian Atheism?
He quoted the definition MA so he knows what it is. He was asking for the opinion on the ground.

What worthwhile philosophies can be found anywhere, that can't be discovered simply by being a fundamentally good and thoughtful person?

I've never met a Christian that is not a cherry picker. You included.

Actually, I guess atheists are cherry pickers,

I cherry pick out all the ridiculous unsupported supernatural claims in the Bible, and keep anything that is worthwhile and stands alone, independent of who is reported to have said it.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

What, pray, does an atheist cherry pick from?

Honestly, does it matter what you label yourself, in terms of beliefs? No matter what you call yourself, your personal opinion will still be different from others who label themselves as the same thing you do, because everyone has different perspectives and different ways of viewing things.

If you want to fart nothings into the ether then go for it, but kindly leave my name out of it. "No, you!" isn't much of a rebuttal at the best of times, but when you opt to (as per Frodo SOP, of course) justify it with no information whatsoever then it becomes especially childish.

You bet, I cherry pick all the time. I take the best widsom I can from whatever sources I find. Why should I do different?

No. I'm not saying I'm a Christian who doesn't know if Yahweh or Jesus really exists, I'm saying I'm a person who rejects the belief in a God or Gods(atheist) but prefer to see Jesus as a teacher of morals.

Christian Atheism:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_atheism

Jesus Christ, Bhuddah, Mohammad, Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, Anton Lavey, Confucius etc... All taught morals, and Atheist believe in all these peoples and the fact that they taught morals (except some don't believe Jesus ever existed, but thats for another thread) so unless you believe that Jesus was the son of God you are just an Atheist, no need to add the word Christian on to it. Also if you think that Jesus's teachings were good then you would also think many of the other men I listed teachings were good since they all share many similarities.

This reply is the "absolute" truth on this topic, in my opinion. Christian Atheism = Contradictio in terminis. If you use Jesus for your morals, it could actually help you to become a better person. It depends what morals you take out of his "teachings".....BTW: The above guy quoting Mohamed for having "good morals" is just to blind to see who Mohammad actually was and what his real morals and agenda has been. Mohamed should not even be in same list as Jesus, Buddah, Ghandi and Confucius etc.

But hey again its IMO....

My apologies....to all....I renewed this old topic from January 2017.....

Give yourself more credit. You awoke this thread from a slumber of more than two years, January 2015. Fortunately threads cannot feel violated. No harm, no foul.
