Indonesia to execute six drug offenders
#71
RE: Indonesia to execute six drug offenders
Have anyone ever thought about what these drugs have done to peoples lives, and how the drugo's had to sell themselves for sex and steal money to pay for it, getting rid of six people to save many more is worth it.

Actually, the last batch of executees numbered six. I think ten are scheduled now, including Chan and Sukumaran. And yes, that is the Indonesian mindset exactly. But to me it's still not premeditated murder or rape. May as well execute a young woman from the local uni who, despite sobriety, hits and kills someone in a crosswalk by accident, and remains on the scene to surrender.

There's always a margin of error in many cases. Even more so, when getting off the hook largely depends on how much money you can spend on your legal team. If OJ had been a poor black person he probably ended up on death row or with a life sentence.

Look up the case of the West Memphis Three. They were convicted without any tangible evidence and spent 18 years behind bars. Damien Echols on death row. They only got off because a tv team televised their first trial and the film got a huge response by many influencal people, who paid for some real legal counsel. And still, when finally being granted a new trial, the took the seldomly used Alford plea because the prosecution threatened to draw out the process.

In my opinion one of the major flaws of the American legal system is the fact that prosecutors are politicians, who always look at the next election.

They'll be replaced by the time the smoke clears.

Hasn't the complete failure of the drug "war" here demonstrated the folly?

Oh well then it will be another batch to execute.

Try again in a language I can understand. You're saying that people should be put to death for selling drugs because "drugo's had to sell themselves for sex and steal money to pay for it." Aside from the fact that I have no idea what that sentence means in connection with your medieval views on the death penalty, you're a fucking moron if you believe the rule of law should---not simply deprive individuals of autonomous rule over their bodies---but actually kill anyone who exercises their privacy rights to do so. Go to hell. Or rather, Indonesia.
