The obvious genital functions are a minor player in the directions of sexual desire. Sexual desire comes from hormonal reactions in the brain, not from possession of a D or P.  Sexual desire varies greatly from person to person. As a teenager and young adult, a woman's T & A was always the foremost thought in my mind, I was drowning in Testosterone. At the same time many of my friends were only mildly interested and were able to concentrate on hobbies and sports instead of sex all the time. Still others were seemingly asexual, with no drive at all. And of course there were those that were further down the line and were homosexual.

Humans vary a lot more than just the classification of their genitals.

A person's sexual direction is a function of brain chemistry and is something that science is beginning to understand. As a matter of fact, actual progress has been made in changing sexual orientation.

I see people continue to confuse sexuality with sexual acts. I can only put this down to religious propaganda and a lack of real education on the subject.

After listening to all this stuff, I can only come to one conclusion. Anyone who says that sexuality is a choice (and of course only "straight" people say this) is themself either gay or bi. They have experienced sexual attraction to the same gender and have "chosen" to suppress it. If that's not the case, the person has made no choice whatsoever in being "straight" and is just talking absolute shit. Again, confusion between sexuality and sexual acts plays into this mislabelling of themself.

You can't choose your sexuality, but you can choose what you tell people your sexuality is and what gender you pursue. It's not surprising that religious people especially would feel pressured into doing this, because of the heavily homophobic nature of many religions.

This is not meant as an insult or judgement, it's my genuine assessment. If you say you have made a choice, I think you're either gay, bi or talking shit.

Well the fact I am OCD keeps me from exploring any gay fantasies.....I can be attracted to certain men, but just thinking of certain sexual activities with either sex is not my style....which is every man's fantasy from what I have heard when it comes to having sex with the opposite sex.

This is what I meant earlier in the thread by people not comfortable with their sexuality dwelling on it more than others.
