Quick Poll - Do you believe in God?

I followed the green arrow back to the source, the opening post of this thread, and don't find those words in what Tiberius had written there.  Care to say where, if any where Tiberius is supposed to have said these words?

Wouldn't be easier if you tell him that his question should be posted in a different thread?  Lightbulb

We can not live without causing some pain to plants but as far as we keep the pain to a minimum we do our very best.
I grow some veggies in my garden and when i need some i always cut the outer leaves so the plant keep alive and the suffering is kept at a minimum.
Animals on the other hand have a developed consciousness and when killed the pain is million times more that the pain that a plant would suffer so we really
got to look at the damage in both quantity and as far consciousness is concern.  Consoling

A smaller step backwards is still a step backwards. Why does our need justify the plant's pain?

Great - I look forward to seeing some of them. I'm sure they're just as compelling as anything we've seen before.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Ok, then.

Sentient is what can help in your real progress whether is something material-physical or mental.  Smile
Uh, no, that's not how it works.  You don't use a word and then apply whatever definition you please.  If you do that, the word is meaningless.  Sentient means "able to perceive or feel things" (Google), or "responsive to or conscious of sense impressions" (Merriam-Webster).  Which means that you don't even understand the explanation you quoted regarding how to develop and see auras, which is hilarious.  And since my own experience and diet (both fairly common) disprove your buddy's theory, you will need to get to work on an alternative one.  But please, before you quote another of your teachers, try to figure out just what it is he is saying, first.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

For Christ sake Ton, don't be ridiculous.
What you find in the dictionary is not what come from personal experience and from PRACTICAL experience.
They are theories and theories are different from practical experiences.
By eating food you will know what make you sick and what make you feel better.
Physically speaking you know that by doing certain exercises you will feel better and by sitting on your arse for
long time you will get sick.
Mentally speaking you know that by mixing with bad people you also will become bad and mixing with good people
you will feel so much better.
Spiritually speaking is the same thing so from doing things you come to know what is good and what is bad that is why
a spiritual teacher can understand what is sentient (good) and what is tamasik (bad) or what is rajasick (in between good and bad).
Why should i learn things written by people that may have not practical experience?
You never thought about it Ton, did you?  Demon

You may do a step backwards if you are reckless in dealing with plants but you can also nullify the bad karma if you do things with the proper vision.
This is an important point in spirituality.
Life is such that we need to eat something alive.
We have no choice so if you understand this point you also understand that it is the creator way of so to speak running the creation in this way.
He (he-she) choose this way not us so it is his responsibility not ours.
There is a particular lesson in yoga that teach how to deal with this and to avoid to build up bad karma.
As far as the plant is concern as i already said that by not having a nervous system or a developed consciousness she will feel a negligible amount of pain.

The trouble with "arguments for god" is that there are tons of them, but they are all flawed. Hundreds of broken arguments do not make a whole one.

I'll spot the logical fallacy in any argument you like.

What you find in the dictionary are THE DEFINITIONS OF WORDS.  This allows those words to mean something.  If you simply change the definition to suit your interpretation, the word is meaningless.  Do you understand?  Your buddy spoke of eating sentient food.  This means meat.  If you have a problem with that, take it up with the guy who said to eat sentient food.  Your lack of education is not my problem, it's yours.  And you cannot solve it by posting two paragraphs of meaningless drivel that doesn't address the problem, which is that your boy thinks auras can be made and seen by eating meat.

The dictionary is our referee, so that we know what each other is saying. If you do not like the definition, then find a word with the definition that you do like.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

Slip and slide ride with the rhythm here we go again, the word goes up the word goes down, what does it mean now? No one knows.

"OK is never a threat."

"It is when I mean it to mean what I mean it to mean. And I mean it to mean OK Rimmer, OKaaaaaaaaay!"

"Lister, OK is never a threat no matter how many 'a's you put on the end."
