So if you had the choice would you wish for one of the alternative gods being proposed by members here or stick with your current god of the bible?

Very subtle how you dialled down the condescension there, Tubby
But CL does not worship the God of the bible - Barely anyone today does , so the question is still loaded.

If this god could be like a pocket genie who granted me unlimited wishes, sure. What exactly are the limits here?

Hey I appreciate it. Thank you. :-)
I would keep the Christian God.
I believe God gave us free will and allows nature to take it's coarse.
A God that talks to us, gives us whatever we ask/want, and immediately paralizes anyone who is about to do something hurtful, sounds good in theory, but I think it would open up a whole can of worms.
First of all, I can see people getting terribly spoiled, always asking for more and more, never being satisfied, and deeply resenting God when they did not get what they want. Second, I think physically stopping people from doing anything that He does not approve of would cause more harm than good. We would just be like children, always confined to daddy's rules and never being able to grow and learn from our mistakes, etc. Third, having free will means the world is what we make it to a certain extent. A lot of the human suffering is due to corruption of man and we have no one to blame for that but ourselves.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Absolutely not.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

If the being you are speaking of created us and loved us...just as we are now, with suffering built into the equation...then no. There are far too many issues with suffering that are unjustifiably allowed to want or desire a god that created us as is flawed. If this being created us with no suffering built in, we would all be extremely different. I love my life now but I would opt for a different one with no suffering if that would allow all beings to be equally happy without boredom.

Seems a sensible swap.

Yeah, you're right. Without those little children slowly dying of cancer and other horrible diseases, we'd all become so spoiled. Good thing God doesn't heal them.
That is your position. Do you realize how callous it is? Allow me to skip over the phase where I'm condescending, I feel like going straight to disgusted.

It would only bring on a can of worms if God decided to bring on a can of worms. He's meant to make the rules and that.
The free will thing falls down in heaven. If there is free will in heaven but no sin, then clearly it's possible to have people who behave but aren't robots. If they don't have free will in heaven, then we end up robots: exactly what this argument supposes God doesn't want.

I respect your opinion.
