They like them just fine. If you read the German articles it's rather about the girls being stared at. The english translation leaves a lot of the finer points of the story out of it's narrative.

Yes, absolutely. My proposal to simply give them a quick friendly crash course with some guidelines concerning culture and behaviour would actually be more equivalent to taking them seriously as human beings. And again, that is a great idea.  My guess is (and I freely admit it is just a guess) that you are not the only German who has thought of this, and very likely they have done that, just as you suggest may have happened.  It is always a good idea to give a bit of an orientation to a group of people from another country, as things are different in different countries and it helps avoid problems to know something about the differences.

Frankly, I would be surprised if there were no orientation given.

Of course, because their religion has been defanged by secular governance ... thanks to the abiding influence of the 30 Years' War, where their body count dwarfs anything put up by Muslim extremists. Additionally, it should be pointed out that there are several score Muslim countries in the world, and it isn't that difficult to scare up some big numbers by phrasing questions this way or that -- but citing a large number percentage of British Muslims when such are a miniscule proportion of the world's Muslims doesn't really carry your case.

The numbers I've seen indicate that overall, a significant majority of Muslims do not condone the violence done by extremists (which, by the way, is by far directed at fellow Muslims rather than Westerners). This comports with my personal experience interacting with Muslims.

That was my point.
