I get miffed ....

I get miffed ....
scanning through Facebook updates on my former, fellow believers' posts. Man, it's annoying. One guy is praising God for the "answered" prayer of being able to marry his best friend (Failing to mention the millions of unanswered prayers, those who sit by themselves and face life in abject loneliness ... or worse) and another who lauds the life of his passed-away grandmother who can't wait to see her again in heaven. For fuck's sake, wake up from your damned delusional dreams and meet the real world.

Hmmm, dear god, thank you for answering my prayers, I could never have swindled my girlfriend into marrying me without you, your grace in condemning her to spend a lifetime with me when she probably didn't really want to only renewed my faith in your goodness. Amen.

Puts me in mind of all the Haitians who were thanking god after their earthquake, what they were thanking him for has still got me fucked.

Nothing says mindless servility and nauseating self debasement quite as eloquently as thanking a gross abuser for not abusing them even more.

Why is it that humans have this predilection for servitude??

Who knows, perhaps his prayer was answered?

Everyone will always be stuck in servitude, we just chose our master.
Its ok to have doubt, just dont let that doubt become the answers.

woah looking at those responses all i can think of is: why do you guys carry so much hatred ? So much spite ?

-When something great happens to someone, they often want somebody to thank for the luck they had. That person married their best friend and are really happy about it, so they thank God as they would thank Fate or Luck. What is wrong about that ?

-About the grandmother, grief is an absolutely horrible feeling. And thinking your loved ones are in a better place and that you will see them later is a relief that NOTHING can compare to. How dare do you attack this person for trying to relieve their grief ? Yeah it's delusion, so what ? A friend of mine lost her mother a few weeks ago. She and her friends went into a prayer group, and it kept her going like nothing else could have.

Why do people around here think that EVERYTHING that is not what they believe in is horrible nonsensical cowardly idiocity ? I thought atheists were supposed to be the open-minded ones ?

Not so open they fall out.

Where did you get that idea? Atheists can be as crazy and closed-minded as anyone else. All it takes is a non-belief in deities, you shouldn't assume anything else about what beliefs we do hold or what position we take on whatever topic.

That is what many, if not all, atheists i know claim: "theists are ignorant god-fearing fools, but WE use rationality and doubt everything !"

It is just so sad to see the meanness, bigotry and hypocrisy i became an atheist to distance myself from be so present in atheists as well.
