God's opinion of deformities
November 18, 2015 at 7:41 pm
In another thread, miaharun asked some good questions about the fairness of the xtian gawd, including this one: "Why are people born deformed ? Imagine how a deformed person will suffer in life." (Now, we know that miaharun is not asking for a scientific explanation - it was more of a list of injustices that would make no sense if a deity who was involved in human affairs existed.)
I would like to point out that, according to Leviticus, Yahweh is a LOT more unfair than just allowing children to be born with deformities. They are born deformed, and then punished for being deformed. They aren't allowed in the temple.
"For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken. No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God." (Leviticus 21:18-21)
Of course, there were all sorts of restrictions regarding who could enter the temple. No bastard was allowed in, to the TENTH generation of his descendents. No male who had any damage to his genital area. Nobody suffering from disease. And, of course, even if a woman has been ritually purified, she has sub-human status.
But don't get us started on how the gawd of the wholly babble is unfair, right? There's too much ammunition there, that discussion would take decades.

Yes, the Abrahamic deity is certainly "loving", isn't it?

Hmm, once again, Yahweh is revealed to be a fucking twat.
How 'bout that ?

As a disabled guy, that's my favorite part of the story. Because fuck him, too.

Don't miss the tie-in between Leviticus 21-18-21 and the story about Jesus' crucifixion in John 19:33 where the soldiers did not break Jesus' legs.

The point of including that detail in John chapter 19 is to validate the passage from Leviticus that a man with a physical defect could not approach to offer the bread of his God. It shows that the OT Law was still in effect. If Jesus had ended up with broken legs he could not do the religious ritual.

I always thought it was interesting how God doesn't like the disabled--and tells people not to approach them, yet Jesus (allegedly a Jew) did just that. He touches a leper for example to heal them. It shouldn't surprise anyone though that Yahweh is a character who'd hate the disabled. Yahweh is a psychopathic misogynist. Hating people because they're blind or can't walk is no real surprise. There's only one very specific tiny sect that he actually likes. He's kind of like the picky child in those commercials for Life cereal. "Mikey won't eat anything." Then he likes Life cereal (it's an awful cereal imo). One could say "Yahweh doesn't like any people." Then he finds the Hebrews, and happens to like them.

Such a silly doctrine.

Still, liberal backsliding christer franchises these days that don't shun the disabled (and the menstruators too!) from their holy places are DAMNED.
There's a commandment about it too.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
