Why so many "anti-feminists" in the atheist community?

And it is for anyone: For anyone who gives a fuck about the rights of women. Regardless of whether they themselves are women.

Feminism claims to be a rights movement for everyone. Self proclaimed feminists have literally told me this before. That's what I've heard feminists say. It's annoying because there's no tenets of feminism, I don't even know why everyone seems to have their own definition of it.

Feminism doesn't claim to be anything - it's an idea, a movement, an all-encompassing word for the equal rights for women.

Feminists, interpret the meaning to suit their agenda, whatever that may be.  The majority do want equal rights for the sexes, but since, in many ways, women are those who have been denied equal rights, the primary goal is to get those rights for women, after all, it's predominantly women leading the movement.

There are extremists in the group, who hate men.  Those are a minority and not representative of the movement as a whole.  They just happen to be the ones who get all the publicity.

On a side note, why is it that over the past few weeks we've started attracting obnoxious people?

Not all the new people of course, but, again, a loud minority...

Hmm I think there's a trio I won't mention. One of the trio is nearby, the other has stepped back a bit, and the final one seems to have actually calmed down and become more reasonable.

PM me for details Devil

To be honest... all these derails are starting to make me sad.

Anita Sarkeesian doesn't get publicity on mainstream news for her bullshit. She gets publicity on mainstream news for what she believes, people buy into it. This kind of thinking, which is based on thinking all of culture is sexist, has been in superbowl commercials. Remember the "play like a girl" ad? There's also one that says the word "bossy" has made women too discouraged to hold jobs as bosses. Why is that a women's issue, men get called bossy too. It just baffles me, the lack of double standard detection. Yes, your pet ideology is probably pretty nice, but it is irrelevant to the issue that I'm addressing, which you can't twist it and call it something else; it's called feminism.
RE: Why so many "anti-feminists" in the atheist community?
Awwww, my "pet" ideology.

Isn't that a cute way of trying to belittle my opinion? What next, will you say, "be a nice girl and run along"?

Belittling doesn't work with me. I just respond in a much more direct way.

Personally, I've never heard of this woman you're referring to.

And yes, my response IS relevant to your commentary.

You're addressing ONE part of feminism while ignoring the rest.

I could address the pathetic losers who call themselves "incels", who basically hate women and blame them because they can't get laid, and equate them to the entire male gender, the way you're doing with extreme feminists.

But I don't like to do that as it's unfair to the majority

There's an opening.

Engaging peeps like that'll just have the whole forum breathing toxicity, and ends up feeling like it's putting <the given person> in the spotlight. Railing on someone you find disruptive further exacerbates that disruption... and hardly provides relief to an already probably emotional person, which then leads them to cause further things that you'd probably consider disruptive.

I don't see the purpose in egging someone on and on and on and on until they finally do something bad enough that we'll ban them... for effectively being unpopular, because so many more popular people are doing the exact same thing. It becomes impossible to tell who provoked who after a certain point... I'd be inclined to wash it (the whole damn event).

Just tired of seeing people complain about this guy... in the same breath as they provoke him further and themselves create the very disruption they dislike from this guy. Especially when they *out of the blue* say things like this which are really unwarranted and which are strictly provocative.

Boggles the friggin mind. Someone might think that people like causing explosions. Kindly desist. You all have the feature to 'ignore' people... if a person is causing you THIS MUCH consternation that you just feel you have to GIVE IT BACK:

Please. For the love of Judas Iscariot. Use that feature. And move on.

This kind of crap is NOT helping. It's getting old. It's a pattern. And it's poison. It's also generally calling out, flaming, and just straight bullying (for anyone that cares)... just because someone is unpopular doesn't give anyone a free pass to bend and break the forum rules. Enough. Is enough. This is getting ridiculous.

....

Now lets get back to arguing over literally everything else under the sun~ Tiger

Contribute to "the problem".

Kindly. Desist.

Why would you address something irrelevant to what I'm talking about? That would waste both of our time.
