I've been meaning to build a new fish tank cabinet for a few months now since my old one got waterlogged and i am afraid that it might crash (lucky my green terrors are still small and don't mind a 100L temp tank too much).I tried woodwork in the past but failed, tried using the jigsaw and the blade would often get stuck or cuts at an angle.

Can't do cabinetry with a jigsaw, my friend. At the very least you need a table saw and a router. If you're talented, you can get away with a circular saw and router.

I have a circular saw, router (no table), miter saw and an old jigsaw.I tend to use a few jigs with the circular saw but it doesn't help when the wood itself is angled.
Jigsaw was only for the rounded corners that i failed to do multiple times with the router.

You need to use softer wood then. Sugar pine tends to have straight grain, and won't warp when you cut it. If you have a lumber yard near, they'll usually finish two edges (S2S) with a jointer/radial saw so you can work off of those edges.

Poplar is also cheap(ish) and easy to work with.

I'd weld a metal frame to take the brunt and then dress it with wood/veneer.

I'd go with poplar, it's a lot more dense than soft pine. The cheapest and strongest route for joinery with your tools would be dowels, pocket joints, or biscuit joints (although you'll need a biscuit jointer for the latter.)
