No, listening to it right now though. I'll tell you what I think.
Gotta say though. It's the only track of theirs that I like. It's kind of strange, really. How can they make such a wonderful trance track and then make... whatever it is they're producing. I'm a trance fanatic, sorry Or, hey, maybe I'm just biased 'cause its the only track of theirs I heard in a trance radioshow/top list. RE: EDM

I don't consider it trance at all, regardless of what list it's on.

It says trance under genres. So... And believe you me. If I heard where I heard it, it's trance alright. At least that particular tune is. You must think the trance genre is a joke or something. =)) RE: EDM

You'll notice Orbital fall under many genres, not just trance.
Sure Halcyon + On + On has trance elements but what I'm saying is if you think that that track is merely the trance genre, it's not. It also has ambient elements, house elements, techno elements, etc, and it transcends all those genres basically. Ever heard an electronic song made by another band that sounds even remotely like Halcyon + On + On or the original Halcyon for that matter? Orbital are very unique. Underworld are about the closest you can get to Orbital as a band and they're still vastly different in many ways. BTW, I realized recently that one of my favorite ever Chemical Brothers tracks, while being far, far inferior to Orbital, I still thought sounded pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REOd_hgjhic Despite being a distorted mess I thought it had a lot of tunage. Turns out that's because they completely ripped off a far superior and far older Orbital song and distorted to fuck out of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPjygVc1R8M They didn't credit Orbital at all. http://www.allmusic.com/album/further-mw0001989733 From above Article Wrote:[...] the psychedelic distortion on "Swoon" sounds self-sampled (or swiped from Orbital's "Lush 3-1") |
