Such an interesting discussion!

That I unfortunately see religious views all around me.
Sorry it took a couple years to respond, Kyu. Believers (of all denominations) kept me entertained, though, and busy.

Me neither.
I've had my cell phone for 3 years. It's prepaid and costs me $30 for 6 months. I've used it 5 times. I have not given my number to anyone as I don't know what it is and never turn the machine on anyway. I do not text because the keypad is too small and texting is tedious.
Plus texting and twitter are producing a generation of illiterates.
Oh, I DO have a Facebook account, with6 friends, all of whom I invited.I put my photos on there in case my house burns down,so I don't lose them. Not at all silly;in the last 3 years,I've burnt out a pot and two coffee percolators by forgetting they were on the stove.

You sound like me!
Turn my cell phone on once a week, when I go to town, no idea of the number. Don't text, no idea how to!
No Twitter and I've just deactivated my Facebook. I try and steer clear of pyromania!

Why? (turn it on) That only wastes the battery. I always carry mine when I leave the house, but only actually turn it on to use it or check the battery.
The deal I get is: $30 credit lasts 6 months. If I recharge before expiry, any credit carries over. Currently I have over $200 credit.(once I forgot and lost my credit)

I've just removed almost everything from my facebook page after finding out 1) Facebook takes address books from your friends when they log in through their mobile and they add this information, addresses, phone numbers etc, to your profile AND 2) they're planning to sell this information.
Fuck those cunts.
Who knows of an open source social network?

Who knows of an open source social network? Maybe a few here (as a result of a quick google search):

I turn it on so that my wife can call me for shopping that she's forgotten!
Gonna take you a long time to use up that credit!

I deactivated mine when people got to me from another forum through other friends, people who I didn't want knowing my real name and details. I'd unfortunately put my real photo on another forum and they recognised me through a mutual friend's FB and started posting stuff on my wall. I think it may have been my fault through not setting my security properly.
I still can't understand people putting their phone numbers and addresses on FB. Pretty questionable practice!
In fact FB is pretty questionable all round, I think.
