I feel you, but I had the impression it was inspired by Limitless(which was an adaptation of The Dark Fields in turn, which I read btw - 4/10), so not exactly an original idea.

Back in 2009 Sam and I went to Plockton, the fishing village in Scotland where the harbour scenes of Edward "Definitely Not Nick Cage" Woodward arrived in his seaplane were filmed. It hasn't changed all that much from the film.
