It's a nice just-so story, but there's much more to sexual selection than this. Humans have never mated using only visual cues, either. What do you think pheromones are? There's evidence that pheromones operate in humans as well as other animal species.

There's also much more to human sexual behavior than simple genetic influence. Human behavior is an extremely complex interaction of nature and nurture, so no, sexual behavior is not "hard-coded".
