Listen, at the end of the day, if the Scots want to vote for their independance, regardless of what happens to brexit, then again, my opinion is that it should be granted.
LOL, no, Bella, actually. I'm with you on that one. Bellas become infamous on the boards for a "UK because self determination, lol fuck scotland" stance since Brexit. Nominally scottish too...been wondering about that, actually. Kind of a riddle...to me.
Infamous? Woo hoo!

I'm assuming that her parents are Tory voters. Possibly even from the south of England originally. I used to be a Tory voter at her age because I was raised in a Tory voting Daily Mail reading household on the south coast of England. The parent's political views are normally the biggest influence on how people vote. Even today I still can't bring myself to vote Labour. And we all know on this forum how strong childhood conditioning can be. It's not just religion.
It takes a concerted effort to challenge your own conditioning and to question your own assumptions. Propaganda works for a reason.
The only thing my father disliked about me was the idea of supporting Manchester United, liking Sir Alex Ferguson and wanting Stephen Hendry to win the World Championship at the crucible. For the politics and the religion, at 11 years of age, I have no leanings in politics and I am agnostic (roughly 5.5 on the Dawkins scale) in my religious, or non-religious leanings.

Born and bred in Scotland, actually.
My mother isn't exactly interested in politics. Ask my father what he supports if you can track the bastard down. I formed the majority of my opinions on my own.

I hear they have some oil, too, Rob. Might come in handy.
(you know how much people like me think about oil...lol )
An independant scotland with independant oil might even be able to negotiate an even more special relationship.

In all seriousness though, you'd be surprised how much wood costs. I certainly was when I had a single 25 metre beech tree cut down from my garden in Germany. It cost us several hundred Euros but to buy it as firewood would have cost us several times more. Most land in Scotland isn't even properly used any more since the clearances. Most of the highlands are a rich man's playground. Half of Scotland is owned by 432 families. Much of the highlands is left barren so land owners can shoot some grouse and deer when they feel like it. The land is squandered.

Tempting me to emigrate......I'm kindof land crazy. Is it really that under-exploited? Does the law stand in the way?
