The movie was boring except the vader scenes.

I really enjoyed it, but my husband felt this way, I think.

I did feel the first half of the movie was a bit disjointed and drawn out.  I thought the intro scenes were gripping, I was enthralled, but honestly had a hard time with the planet hopping and story for a while, though this was partly due to my terrible vision IRL and the fact we were forced to sit pretty close to the screen as the theater was pretty packed.

As someone who has seen all of the Star Wars films so far, all the planet-hopping at the beginning with the sub-titles was confusing!  But, the recency-effect  prevailed, and the cool ending made-up for it!  I am a bit of a romantic, and so, seeing the heroine and hero die in each others arms was touching.  The line directed at them, "May the force be with you..." certainly appealed to the many theists in the audience!  As an atheist, it was touching enough to see them die together in a warm embrace.  This is one reason why I prefer Star Trek over Star Wars, as the latter has too much "woo-woo" in it.

It was good not at all what I was expecting especially for a Disney production. It really captured the grittier less clean elements of the star wars universe. That are in the novels but you rarely see on film. And really captures the fact that in the early years of the rebel alliance up till the destruction of alderaan and the first death star. The rebel alliance were a rag tag  divided infighting group who lost more often then they won.

That was sad, especially, when he said "Goodbye".  It certainly said something about consciousness and sentience.

I was kinda sad when they all died hell even the no name characters (All the deaths are way more graphic in the novelization of the film. And you also feel even worst because book really flushes everyone out in a way the movie couldn't)

But yes K-2SO death was especially sad (considering some of the background details from the book)

Completely Agree! He was probably my favorite character in the movie, and his death made me tear up a bit.

I think one of the most exciting scenes was when the rebel ship rammed the star destroyer. At first I was like, what are they doing, and about one secondition later, I thought, oh ho! I almost felt like cheering out loud.

Also, a few minutes into the film, I had a big forehead slap moment. I knew this was going to be about stealing the plans to the death star, but I thought it was pretty brilliant of them to include why the flaw is there in the first place. It's been a joke for decades, and a pretty massive plot hole, and they did a great job writing a backstory that actually makes some sense of that.

Of course they created a new plot hole, lol. If they had the technology to build an impenetrable shield around an entire planet, why didn't the first death star get one? We see one around the second death star of course, added protection, but if they'd had it around the first, the rebellion couldn't have just flown in and blown it up so easily.
Oh well. I guess they didn't realize there might be a flaw, arrogance and all that....even though they now know a traitor designed the thing? Meh, it's Star Wars, I'm not going to hate on it for this kind of thing.

That scene was so cool!!  And, so realistic, also; one must think of the medieval and Renaissance naval battles.

I also appreciate how diverse the cast was, without feeling forced. Speaking of, the other characters I loved were Imwe and his buddy. I adore Donny Yen, and was thrilled to see him in a Star Wars film. His blind walk and subsequent death was actually pretty cool and touching as well.

That was his name, huh? The characters never really had a chance to develop too much. They felt secondary to the story (Force Awakens had a problem with the opposite) Here are the names I gave them in my head:

Sassy Robot (actually, K was a pretty easy one to recall)

Off to see it a second time in a bit with my brother and a mate. Looking forward to it since they've both not seen it yet
