I haven't found much about this, but I wonder, why are GMOs in Germany among some other European countries banned? As far as I know GMOs have been deemed safe and there are no issues with it, generally, but I find it odd why Germany would ban GMOs.

Erm, most emphatically. You see, the most vocal people here are really led by emotions - they are anti-science because they are motivated by an irrational desire to want things to be "natural" above all else, and would rather eat some dubious supplement if it is marketed as natural than some benign well-understood substance that was created artificially.

But is there any reason to think that greater knowledge of human physiology will be more likely to reveal problems with GMOs than, say, fabric dyes or the stuff in your shampoo?

I'm just saying it is possible that they could be and we just don't know yet.

If you're going to worry about things you're exposed to in your environment, GMO's should probably be close to the bottom of the list.
