Yes, the apes are revolting.

It's sort of a Tea Party metaphor!

The original series was a social, political and environmental commentary too.

It's just tiresome to me. The original series especially seemed pretentious to me. Falsely so though, because in the end they changed the perspectives of no one and they did the only thing they were ever meant to do .... make some money. Plus Charlton Heston is a tool who's acting was always so -- grandios in the uncomplimentary way of off-broadway-over-the-top melodramatic noise.

My point? I don't know. The monkey movies don't deserve to much attention in my humble opinion. Of course, movies are subjective and I thought Zombieland was fuckin awesome --- so I may not be the best person to sound off here. Tongue

I understand that they have to leave it open for the next one, but I feel like they could have covered a little bit more.

Yeah, I think the whole reason for that was to leave it open for the next one. I was a little bummed at that myself. However, they would have had less of a backstory in this one if they went all out with the taking over the world aspect.

True, and I agree with you there.

On another note, it was ironic that Tom Felton played another douchebag role in this movie. If you remember, he played a douchebag in all the Harry Potter movies as well. Although, he pulled off the American accent quite well, and got what was coming to him.

I was a little surprised to see Felton in this role. I have to admit that he did douchebag even better this time.

I want to see it. I also want to see the remake of Conan, though I doubt it can touch the original.

I'm not interested in Conan. It was never my thing.

I thought it was really good. It doesn't really follow the plots of the originals since it's set on earth in the present. Before seeing it I was really put off by the adverts, the apes in them seemed terrible but fortunately it's all good in the film

The film should have been longer and more conclusive IMHO, cliffhangers are only an irritant if you have to wait more than a couple of weeks.

I often get perks from one of the companies I write for. If I see any good movie perks that are available outside the U.S., I'll let you know.
