Why do you need a bunch of worthless space. It's not about square footage. It's about quality of life. It's a better quality of life to live in a tiny house. It really is. Only dumb spoiled Americans want big houses.

As for the luxury ones. I'd say you can just build one yourself.

I don't need a McMansion. I've already said that the nearly 3,000 sf we're in now is way too much for us with Childperson gone. But that 145 to 200 sf shit? Oh hell no. That's too much togetherness.

I live in an apartment. As public housing goes, it's fairly large. But having lived in a confined space all my adult life, I don't think adjusting to a tiny house would be particularly difficult.

Plus I would have my own yard and street access, something I don't have now.

A tiny house would be too confining for us, with our two dogs, and the occasional family visitors.

That said, our square footage needs are modest, and I can always think of better things to do than waste money, time, and effort maintaining and cleaning a house whose size is bigger than our lowkey lifestyle requires. Keeping up with the Joneses has never been of any interest to me.

My kitchen is a nightmare. In 1909 when the house was built it was a separate building. Although it is part of the rest of the house now,nobody put any thought into designing it to make any sense. No matter what I'm doing, whatever I need is on the opposite side of the room. And it's a big room. I sure don't need all that floor space that exists solely for me to have to walk across and to mop. That's the first room I'd shrink in a major way when/if we move to something smaller.
