Because we're talking about all physicality. A physical reality producing all physical reality is a logical contradiction.

What do you mean by 'produced ' ?

Have you any evidence for your assertion?

Quote:First explanation. Ultimately, nonbeing produced being. The problem with this explanation should be obvious. How could nonbeing produce being? What would be producing it? Nonbeing is the absence of any kind of existence.

Oh, dear the "everything must have a creator" assertion.  Fine then, what created god?

Quote:Second explanation. Something is past-eternal. This something could be the universe, multiverse, or one of its constituents. Or it could be something else entirely. Let's call it X. X would need to exist and there was never a point where the proposition "X exists" was false.
[citation needed]

Oh, and I'm sorry referring to the arguments of William Lane Craig, who knows exactly nothing of physics or the origins of the universe, is not evidence.  He makes statements contstantly that he can't back up and is pretty much stuck with lying for Jeebus.

No it isn't your argument is pure creationist nonsense with added "sciency" words.  Not one bit of actual science is used, nor is reason within an asses roar of it.

Isn't this what they call 'weasel words , ?

It's a non-sequitur to say because X is made up of matter and energy that therefore it cannot be produced or affected by an immaterial being.

No, fool.
A thing without material form or substance has no mass or energy. You've just described something that does not, cannot, exist.

A being that is non-physical wouldn't be made up of matter and energy. True.

It doesn't follow that if something isn't made up of matter and energy that therefore it doesn't exist.

No, you are describing a being that must exist(in your opinion) for your prior faith in a certain god to be true.
You still need to show that the same god exists before you can attach definitions to it.

Quote:I never claimed that.

Okay, do you believe that everything material must have a creator ? , if so why

Quote:God isn't a created being, so your question doesn't make any sense.

Neither do you, you need to prove a god exists first.
That you need your god to have made up qualities to fit your prior belief is completely beside the point.

Quote:That's not true. I referred to the contemporary scientific consensus that the universe is past-finite.

I suspect most people would agree with that, but how do you get from that to creation from none being ?

Quote:I have no idea how it works, but I don't see any good reason to believe that it cannot or doesn't happen.

Sure, it's called faith., but what reason do you have that it did indeed happen ?

I don't remember saying that quote here. Why did you have this quote attributed to my name while not addressing what I actually said???

Then in what way would it be a 'being' ?

In my defense you're part of a hive-mind so it doesn't really matter. Wink

It's just common curtsey to get the quotes right.

It's Okay though, if that's what the voices in your head tell you , then i suppose that is what you have to say Wink
