What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What Do You Know Today That You Didn't Know Yesterday?
I'm a longtime fan of Saved by the Bell and, if you remember it at all, you remember this:

You probably laughed at how over the top it was, and probably the absurd double standard that caffeine is okay in drink form, but in pill form, it's really fucking dangerous. Well, it turns out the episode originally made sense because the pills were originally supposed to be speed, but, for reasons that I'm sure made sense at the time, NBC refused to allow Jessie to be addicted to speed for an episode, but was okay with it being caffeine pills.

Caffeine is speed. It’s one of the low-polymer amphetamines. I’m sure they changed her addiction for legal reasons, but caffeine in pill form IS much more dangerous than coffee - it’s almost impossible to drink enough coffee to seriously injury yourself (the alkaloids in coffee will make you vomit before you get to that level), but it’s doable with caffeine tablets.

My husband worked for years at Pepsi. Some time back I asked him how they "un-caffeinate" drinks. He said they just didn't add the caffeine powder. Hmmmm.

I guess a snort of it would wake a guy up if he was falling asleep at this machine...it was apparently not an uncommon occurrence.

I spent a few years sucking down energy drinks - yeah, not a good idea. I quit long before I had my heart attack but know for sure I won't ever be consuming another energy drink...guarana may sound all natural and safe but that stuff will make your heart all jumpy if you are sensitive to such.

Iced tea doesn't bother me and I don't drink coffee and very few soft drinks so my intake of caffeine is pretty consistent as I always have a glass of iced tea close at hand.

I used to drink Jack Daniels and Jolt Cola....

Alas - you can't find Jolt - and once you puke Jack - you never get past the smell again... (Unless you are a masochist with an alcohol problem.)

So now my "cheap guy's speedball" is vodka and Red Bull......

Yeah, The first time I had an energy drink was when I was a student and completely worn out with study and classes.

I made the mistake of drinking two bottles close together. My heart went mad.

You do have a point about the greater potential to overdose on caffeine pills, but it turns out that caffeine isn’t actually speed. Caffeine is a member of the methylxanthine class and amphetamine a phenethylamine. They are different classes with different molecular structures, though they are at least both stimulants.

I accept the correction.

The Eliquis that I was attempting to buy at a discount from Maple Leaf Meds in Canada is not made by Bristol-Myers, but by a drug company in India. In other words, it's a counterfeit. The Indian company has no oversight from the FDA and their quality controls may be questionable. I refuse to pay $300 here each month for the real drug. I guess it's time to talk with my PCP about alternative medicines.  Dodgy

IBM are the initials for International Business Machines Corp. Came across this by chance in a Reuters article. Never even bothered to find out what IBM stood for.
