Things to note:

• He apparently has permission of the court to do this. 
  
• Believe it or not, pleading insanity, if anything, led to a longer sentence than he probably would have served if he didn’t. Once you’ve served your allotted time in prison, assuming that you didn’t commit more crimes in the interim, that’s it. If the court deems you criminally insane, you only get out of the doctors decide you’re no longer insane. That can easily take longer than it could have taken if he just was found guilty.
  
• As far as I can tell, he’s at least trying to direct his romantic affections towards women who are actually straight.

Also, anyone who thinks going to an institution is somehow getting off more easily than prison doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Once again, you can be in for longer than you would have if you just went to prison, and literally the only upside is that, if you live in a state with the death penalty, you don’t get the needle in your arm if you’re insane. Hell, even One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest made that clear:

No big secret. I became violently depressed after the death of my father and was committed for 28 days. Had I not been, I likely would have attempted suicide at some point.

As for the prison thing, I was interned (which means held without charge or benefit of counsel) for seven months after I handed a beer to the relative of a terrorist.

Maybe you should care.  Although my jab was far from constructive, negative feedback is necessary to growth.

I watched Hinkley's Majesty of Love.  It was unimaginative and stiff, too locked in on the 8th notes and all down strokes.  It had an awkward change, coming out of what's supposed to be a bridge, and no finish.  He just stops. I think I could help him if he'd listen.
