i No, I do not. you conflate KG3’s legitimacy as a sovereign over someone somewhere with recognition of the recognition of legitimacy of his specific claim of sovereignty over a specific someone.
by the time of the formal denial of the legitimacy of his claim
of sovereignty over the 13 colonies has been made, the foil of bad but legitimate governance has already become water under the bridge.

Not at all - ‘legitimate’ and ‘sovereign’ mean very different things. No one in the colonies seriously questioned whether George III was the legitimate ruler of Britain, they questioned his sovereignty over
them.
This is precisely what qualifies the American rebellion as a coup.

So I just finished reading a biography of Eisenhower. Not my fave, but he definitely had some good qualities and a few bad ones. I was happy to hear he wasn't altogether enthralled with Nixon.
Why is it so?
